Children at St Annes

Children are very welcome at St. Anne’s Parish.

Sundays

During the 09.30hrs Sunday Mass there is a thriving weekly children’s liturgy group which the children are invited to attend at the start of Mass. The children go into the sacristy, or Father’s House, with the Liturgy group leaders (who are DBS checked) and parents/grandparents/carers are also very welcome to accompany their children and should attend with very young children.  During the sessions there are a wide range of activities undertaken based on the gospel of the day or the time of year, for example, last year the children made Christingles during advent and participated in an Easter Egg at Easter and there are stories and crafts.  The age range is approximately 1-10 years.

First Holy Communion

Children who have made their First Holy Communion are actively encouraged to become altar servers and should please speak to Deacon John for more information.

Children undertaking the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion (usually around Year 3) are warmly invited to join the parish preparation programme which commences in January each year. The children participate in several preparation sessions and attend a retreat day ahead of receiving the Sacraments in March and June respectively.

A Confirmation preparation programme is also offered to children attending high school with sessions advertised in the parish bulletin.
